Hideez Client — Quickstart Guide for Windows
Please note! The functionality of a password manager, password generator, and proximity lock is available only on Windows 10 or Windows 11 computers with the installed Hideez Client application.

Step 1: Remove isolating material from the case

Open Hideez Key's case and remove the white plastic stripe.

Step 2: Install the Hideez Client application

You can download the latest version of the Hideez Client here.
Run the clientsetup.exe file, select the Standalone version and check the Use external Hideez Bluetooth Dongle box.

Step 3: Plug the Bluetooth adapter into your PC

Plug the Hideez Bluetooth adapter into a USB port. Avoid using a USB hub, if possible. The "Hideez Bluetooth Dongle" indicator in the lower left corner of the Hideez Client will turn green.

Step 4: Update the firmware of your Hideez Key

Go through the steps to update the firmware of your Hideez Key to the latest version using Quick Update in a single mode:
Go to Program Files -> Hideez -> Client -> Device Maintenance Application.
Run the application, check the "Hideez Dongle" option and select the Quick update mode.
Bring your Hideez Key close to the Bluetooth adapter, hold the devices close to each other until the update is completed. The firmware will be automatically updated to the latest version.

Step 5: Pair your Hideez Key with the Hideez Client

  1. 1.
    Launch the Hideez Client application.
  2. 2.
Press the Hideez Key's button to activate the device. You will see a flashing blue light.
  3. 3.
Bring your Hideez Key close to the Bluetooth adapter. You need to touch the dongle with the Hideez Key for 1-2 seconds and confirm pairing by pressing the Hideez Key's button when it will flash green.
  4. 4.
Set up your master password (minimum 8 symbols). You can subsequently change the master password according to this instruction.
Please note! It will be impossible to recover a forgotten master password! If you don't have a master password, you can only wipe all the data which is stored in your Key.
Possible issues:
The button was not pressed in time - you need to press the button when it flashes green. You have three attempts to confirm the connection by pressing the button; the key will flash green during each attempt. If you missed this moment and did not press, then after three attempts the key stops flashing green, and you need to touch the dongle again.
