Hideez Client — Quickstart Guide for Windows
IMPORTANT: Please, notice that Internal Bluetooth option is supported only for Windows 10 version 1903 (2019) and later. In earlier versions, Hideez Key works only with the Hideez dongle.
Please note! The functionality of a password manager, password generator, and proximity lock is available only on Windows 10 or Windows 11 computers with the installed Hideez Client application.

Step 1: Remove isolating material from the case

Open the Hideez Key's case and remove the white plastic stripe.

Step 2: Pair the Key with your Windows PC

    Go to Windows Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth & other devices -> Add a new device -> Bluetooth

    Press the button on your Hideez Key to activate the device. It will flash blue, and you will see the Key in the list of available Bluetooth devices.

    Once you try to establish the connection, the button will flash green. Confirm pairing by pressing it once again.

Step 3: Update the firmware of your Hideez Key

Once the Key is paired with your computer, you can update its firmware to the latest available version.
Go to Program Files -> Hideez -> Client -> Device Maintenance Application.
Run the application, check the "Windows Bluetooth" option and click on the "Quick update" button. Wait until the firmware is fully uploaded.

Step 4: Install the Hideez Client application

You can download the latest version of the Hideez Client here.
Run the clientsetup.exe file, select the Standalone version and check the Use Windows 10 internal Bluetooth box.
Once you launch the application, check that the Bluetooth indicator at the lower left corner of the window is green. Your Key will be connected to the app automatically in a few seconds.
Once the device is connected, click on the yellow padlock icon in the upper left corner of the application to access the Password Manager:

Step 5: Set up a Master Password

Since the application is being used for the first time, you will need to create a master password for your password manager (minimum 8 symbols). You can subsequently change the master password according to this instruction.
Please note! It will be impossible to recover a forgotten master password! If you don't have a master password, you can only wipe all the data which is stored in your Key.

Step 6: Password Management

Go to the Password Manager tab of the Hideez Client and click the "+" sign to add a new account.
You can also use a shortcut Ctrl + Alt + A to open a window for adding your account data directly from any website. In this case, the account name and application / site fields will be pre-populated and can be edited manually.
After you add and save a new account, you will be able to use two login methods: - Pressing the Hideez Key's button a) 2 clicks = login autofill b) 3 clicks = password autofill c) 4 clicks = OTP autofill

Step 7: Proximity Authentication

If you want to use Hideez Key to unlock your PC, you need to add a Primary account in the Vault Settings tab.
Go to the Vault settings section and check the Use this device to Unlock the PC checkbox. After the checkbox becomes active, you will have to select a User, enter your password and select your Unlocking method:
You can specify preferable distance values ​​for the proximity mechanism. Your PC will be locked when the Bluetooth signal level falls below the specified value in % and unlocked when the Bluetooth signal level exceeds the specified value in %.
We recommend setting the intervals between the values ​​at least 40. The optimal values are:
— Lock - 30%; — Unlock - 70%.

Step 8: Passwordless Authentication

Hideez Key supports passwordless authentication stadards (FIDO U2F and FIDO2) developed by the FIDO Alliance. FIDO specifications are currently supported in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari web browsers.
In order to use Hideez Key as a FIDO security key, you have to pair it with your endpoint device(s). The supported devices include computers running Windows 10 or Windows 11, macOS (High Sierra and later), Android (version 7.0+), and iOS (version 13.3+) devices.
After the Hideez Key has been successfully paired with your endpoint device via Bluetooth, you can proceed to setting up a passwordless login to the desired accounts:
Services that support passwordless authentication and 2FA include Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, and other platforms. You can review the full list of sites supporting FIDO2 and FIDO U2F standards here.

Step 9: Physical Access

You can use Hideez Key as an RFID keycard. The device contains an RFID module that can be programmed to open an electronic door in your house, office, or gym.
You may ask authorized locksmith service to clone your exiting key fob on Hideez Key.
